Update (4/23/22) – Ubisoft also confirmed that it has no plans to add NFT to Project Q.
After various leaks, Ubisoft officially announced Project Q, “a team battle arena that allows players to truly have an experience” that is not Battle Royale.
Ubisoft announced the news on Twitter, saying that “the game is in early development and we will continue to test, so for now all you can do is sign up for upcoming tests.” Along with sharing the first conceptual art for the game, Ubisoft added that this is not a Battle Royale and instead “will include different PvP modes for a single purpose: FUN!”
The image shows four characters in what could very well be Central Park in New York. Although it is only a conceptual art, it seems to hint at some of their abilities. The character on the left uses a hand-held rocket and there is something that looks like dynamite on it.
Another character has lightning bolts in his hair and yellow clothes, which is annoying that he may have lightning abilities or be very fast. There is also an older character who holds a shovel that seems to have the ability to fly or glide. Finally, a hero with glasses stands on the bridge and accepts everything.
According to VGC, the expired gameplay of Project Q began to leak online after Ubisoft invited players to test this new game. It has a look similar to Fortnite, but, as Ubisoft says, it is not Battle Royale.
Every Ubisoft game is under development
It is said that there are two game modes in Battle Royale called Showdown and a control mode called Battle Zone, but Ubisoft’s statements may mean that Showdown is a different type of mode. The game also says that there are characters with unique weapons, abilities and skills and something called “Wonders”.
The weapons are said to be different from your traditional offerings and include “calf cards, fireworks, hammers, sticks and paint guns”.
Project Q is another game that was part of the GeForce Now database leak, which included a PC version of Final Fantasy VII Remake and God of War, a remake of Chrono Cross.
