April 20 (Reuters) – Ukrainian troops have halted an offensive by Russian forces from the northeastern city of Izyum to nearby Slavyansk, said Alexei Arestovich, an adviser to the Ukrainian president on Wednesday.
“They have concentrated their efforts there, they are trying to advance there, but so far they are not succeeding,” he said in a video message.
Arestovich also said that Ukrainian forces in the besieged city of Mariupol were holding out, despite persistent Russian attacks on the Azovstal steel plant.
