Police sealed a street in Rochdale today after reports of a grenade found in an ice cream tub.
Police were called to Gatesgart Road in Middleton this afternoon. Neighbors told Manchester Evening News that an unexploded grenade was found in a house.
Photos from the scene show a large police cordon at the intersection of the street – stretching most of the way down. A number of properties are inside the cordon.
Several police officers guarding the area can be seen with a police car parked at both ends of the cordon. Fire crews were also spotted on the spot, and a soldier entered the house.
Locals appear to have gone outside their properties and appear to be gathering on the street. For more information, we contacted the Greater Manchester Fire Department and the Greater Manchester Police.
