A seven-year-old girl from Vancouver Island who was abducted by her father in late January was left in the RCMP North Cowichan-Duncan squad on April 20, the RCMP said on Thursday.
According to police, the girl knew the man who brought her to the station. She is said to be safe and has returned to her mother.
Jesse Bennett, 36, is still wanted on a kidnapping warrant across Canada in violation of a detention order.
Bennett disappeared with his daughter three days after a judge ordered him to abide by a joint custody agreement.
He is described as white, five feet 10 inches tall and 160 pounds with blue eyes, brown hair and a beard. He may be wearing a hat or shaving his head.
Anyone with information on Bennett’s whereabouts is asked to contact local police or the North Cowichan / Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522.
