Vivo X80 and X80 Pro launched in China, a global version is forthcoming

(Pocket-lint) – Vivo has announced its latest flagship devices, the Vivo X80 and Vivo X80 Pro. Although it launches in China, it is reported that the global launch is on May 8.

The new phones have a huge segment of the back provided to the camera. This sees a large plate dominating the upper half of the back, with a round set of multiple lenses. This is a Zeiss system, as with previous Vivo devices.

Interestingly, it is reported that there will be versions of both Snapdragon and Dimensity on the X80 Pro. One will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, while the other will be MediaTek Dimensity 9000. How exactly they will be managed in global sales remains to be seen, but we suspect that it will be only Snapdragon.

It has a 4700mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Moving forward, it has a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. On the Pro model it is adaptive from 1-120Hz and has Quad HD resolution.

The main camera offers a 50-megapixel sensor, along with a 48-megapixel ultra-wide, 12-megapixel portrait lens and an 8-megapixel telephoto periscope. It has a 32-megapixel front camera.

The periscope lens offers 5x optical zoom and up to 60x digital zoom.

Vivo X80 Pro measures 164.57 x 75.3 x 9.1 mm.

Vivo

Vivo X80 offers only Dimensity 9000, with 4500mAh battery with 80W charge. The display is almost the same, although it is reported to offer 60 or 120 Hz instead of the full adaptive range. Besides, it’s only Full HD +.

In terms of cameras, the Vivo X80 offers a 50-megapixel main camera, 12-megapixel ultra-wide and 12-megapixel portrait lens, but lacks periscope magnification.

Both models are available in different colors, including the attractive orange leather of the Vivo X80 Pro, a bit like the Oppo Find X2 Pro from 2020. What exactly the models, colors or specifications we will get for the global launch remains to be confirmed.
