“We are hated here”: ISIL pawns John Cantley’s last smuggled letter | News

John Cantley, a photojournalist kidnapped by Islamic State, is asking Western governments to pay a ransom of $ 100 million to secure his release and that of five other hostages in a letter smuggled from Syria.

Cantley, the only prisoner held by the so-called Beatles Islamic State gang, whose fate remains unknown, told relatives he feared he would be killed if the money did not come. His captors demanded a huge sum because the British and American governments were the “most hated” members of the terrorist group.

The letter is among the caches of unprecedented documents and files released by US prosecutors following Thursday’s conviction of El Shafi Elsheikh, the last member of the kidnapping and torture gang.
