Pep Guardiola says that any psychological advantage that Liverpool now has over Manchester City will be known only if the two teams meet in the Champions League final.
And the City boss complained about the terrible first half of Wembley on Saturday, when Jurgen Klopp’s men beat them 3-2 to secure a place in the FA Cup final next month.
After finishing two Premier League games 2-2 this season, the Reds went 3-0 ahead of the national stadium after Sadio Mane added an arc to Ibrahim Konate’s third goal of the game.
City responded with goals at both ends of the second half by Jack Grilish and Bernardo Silva, but the damage was done as Klopp’s men stayed on course for all four trophies this season.
Asked if the impressive win could give Liverpool the lead in both the Premier League and the Champions League from now until the end of the season, Guardiola said it would only become apparent if the teams clash in Paris for the European Cup. May 28
“Well, there are more chances at the end of the season,” Guardiola said. “It’s just that both teams have reached the final of the Champions League. And then we’ll see what happens.

“Now there are seven games left in the Premier League and we know what we have to do. We will try to win the Premier League. Now we need to rest. Today is just another one and we are going game by game to try to develop.
“We have Brighton, Watford and Real Madrid and we want to add another one. We will try everything and keep going to the final, if not, we will leave the race.”
He added: “Of course [the second half] is something positive, especially from the first half. I learned more from the first half than from the second. We will learn more about this in the future. It was really good, our team and our 11 players were really good.
“And we lost because of the discovery. We made a really good comeback and did everything we had to do. I think it was really good [in the second half].
“The first half was when we talked about what to do, we couldn’t do it and for that reason, the emotion of the game and the first action when they came and scored a goal and then scored the second, it’s not easy to face Liverpool in this situation .
“In the end, we defended really badly from throwing, in this situation we excluded our game for the third. In the second half we gave everything. So in the end anything could happen in a football game and it was 2-0 in the second half, so we have to take the positive things out of that. “
City face Real Madrid in the last four of the Champions League later this month, while Liverpool will start their semi-final with a visit from Villarreal to Anfield on April 27.
