Bad weather at TPC Potomac has created many difficulties for golfers at the Wells Fargo Championship in 2022. Combine this with a new course – this stop is usually played at the Quail Hollow Club – and the results are unpredictable day by day. Jason Day held the lead in the first two rounds, but a difficult Saturday led to a slowdown. The performance with 3 less than Keegan Bradley in the 3rd round gives the American a two-stroke lead, focusing on the last 18 holes, but the package is crowded with many opportunities for a late push to change the rankings.
Max Homa, Anirban Lahiri and Rory McIlroy – who have recovered well from a slow start – are still close at hand, although McIlroy, by his own admission, is a short distance from six rebounds. In any case, the unpredictable nature of this tournament should lead to an exciting finale on Sunday.
