When and how people from the Northeast will receive the discount of 150 British pounds

Households in the north-east can receive aid to help cover the cost of rising energy bills in the form of a rebate of £ 150. Chancellor Rishi Runak announced the measure as part of a spring statement.

Some have also revealed details of a discretionary scheme that will increase the figure from £ 150 to as much as £ 175 for those who qualify for it.

You can pay your municipal tax by direct debit by filling out a short form. However, depending on the date of your first payment, you may still be invited to apply for £ 150. If you do not have a bank account, you will be able to ask us to make a payment to your tax account to reduce your balance.

The Newcastle City Council also has a “discretionary scheme.” It explained. We also received some funds for vulnerable households and low-income households living in properties in municipal tax groups E to H. We decided to distribute this funding as follows.

For those households that receive tax support from the Council (April 1, 2022) and live in properties in municipal tax groups A to D, we will automatically award an additional £ 18 of discretionary fund, which will increase the total payments received to £ 168

For households receiving tax assistance from the Council (on 1 April 2022) living in tax groups E to H, we will award a prize of £ 168. This payment will be received in the same way as the basic scheme, either directly in your bank account if you pay municipal tax by direct debit, or through the application process if you do not. The discretionary payments will not be paid at the same time as £ 150.

The discretionary payments will be paid from May 2022. Energy maintenance payment information here.

For eligible residents who pay by direct debit and have recently received and cleared a payment, we expect payment to be made by the end of April 2022. This will be paid directly into the account we use to collect your payments.

If you have recently set up a direct debit once your payment has been received and cleared, we will request that the payment be made within three weeks. However, depending on the date of your first direct debit payment, we may invite you to apply online for the £ 150 energy discount.

Direct debit payers. For those who have recently been paid by direct debit and continue to reside in their property on April 1, 2022, the payment will be made directly to your bank account during the period from 11 to 29 April 2022 (deadlines are subject to any additional checks that may be required). For example, a discrepancy between the name of the taxpayer and the bank account holder may require additional checks and may delay the payment of the discount.

For those who have recently created a new direct debit for the current financial year, they will need to make additional checks before payment. These checks will include waiting for the first direct debit payment to be collected before making a payment. Therefore, payments will start in the week starting April 25, 2022.

Payers without direct debit. The Council aims to open the application process on 13 April 2022 (please check the website for updates). The Council will have to confirm the requests before payments can be made.

The council said bank account payments have begun and in the first block of payments, more than 71,000 residents of households who pay their municipal tax by direct debit will receive their payment before Easter weekend.

Residents who have recently become direct debit payers will start receiving their payments in the week starting April 25, provided their bank details are confirmed.

Sunderland City Council will also have a discretionary scheme for non-eligible residents to qualify for the basic scheme – the details of the discretionary scheme will be confirmed in due course (please check the website for details).

The Northumberland Council Council stated …

If you pay municipal tax by direct debit, we will use this information to pay £ 150 directly into your bank account. Our goal is to make payments by the beginning of May 2022.

If we do not have your bank account details, there will be an online form that you can use to provide us with your bank details. We will write to you when this is ready. We are developing other options for those who cannot commit to our online process or who do not use a bank account regularly.

We will share this information when we have it. When we can’t find another way to pay someone £ 150, for which he qualifies, we will deduct them from his municipal tax bill in September. Information on paying for energy support here.
