Menopause is universal, but HRT deficiency is a unique British problem.

Besins Healthcare, which produces Oestrogel, the HRT product with the most severe shortages, supplies 90 countries. However, the company acknowledged: “Increased demand for estrogel has been observed only in the United Kingdom.”

Women across the UK are struggling to find estrogen gel and other prescribed HRT products. Two-thirds of pharmacies reported daily shortages, and three-quarters of pharmacy staff said they had experienced aggression from patients as a result. “The HRT crisis is putting women’s lives in danger,” a front page warned last week.
