SPRINGFIELD – UPDATE: 10:00
One person was killed and four others were injured in a shooting in Springfield early Sunday morning.
According to Captain Michael Kranz of the Springfield Police Department, the teams were called in to respond to the shooting in the area of Clifton Avenue and Rice Street just before 3 am
At least five people have been shot, according to Kranz. A woman was killed and four were hospitalized.
The shooting is still under investigation.
Kranz confirmed that this was the second mass shooting in less than a year in Springfield.

INITIAL REPORT:
One woman was killed and three others were shot dead after a shooting broke out in Springfield that night.
We called the Springfield police and a sergeant. David Krauss told us that the crews were called to the Clifton Avenue and Rice Street area after a shooting was reported.
According to the traffic of the emergency scanner, the crews responded to the shooting around 2:45 p.m.

Sergeant Kraus confirmed that at least four people had been shot.
One woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the other three victims were taken to Springfield Medical Center.
The extent of the injuries to the other victims has not been confirmed yet.
