One person was killed and eight others were injured in a shooting at a Phoenix mall on Saturday, according to Phoenix police.
The shooting happened around 1 am, police said. They responded to numerous shooting calls in the area of 10th Avenue and Hatcher Road, and people fled the parking lot of a mall when officers arrived, police said. Many victims have been identified both at the scene and nearby.
Police said the victim was a 14-year-old girl, according to KPHO, a subsidiary of CBS. Of the eight injured, two women received life-threatening injuries, KPHO reported.
Detectives say the investigation is in advance, but said a large crowd gathered at a mall party when a quarrel led to the shooting. The shooting, police said, took place inside and in a nearby parking lot and roadway.
