1Password now remembers which “Sign in with” service you used

Trying to remember how you originally logged into a website, application, or service can be a real challenge, so 1Password introduces a new feature to solve this particular problem.

Logging in now, the new password manager browser beta adds support for “Login with…” buttons (opens in a new window) – keeping your preferences, whether it’s logging in with Apple, Facebook or Google, for example. On your first visit to a website or service, 1Password will note the social login method used (if one is used at all) and will automatically select it for future visits without the need for user intervention.

“When we announced our vision for the future, we introduced the concept of Universal Sign On,” Mitch Cohen, product director for 1Password B2C, wrote in a blog post. “For us, this means that you have to log in effortlessly, whether you use a password, a Facebook account or something else.

To try out the new feature, simply download the beta version of the browser (Opens in new window) for Chrome, Edge, Brave or Firefox. “It’s as easy as it sounds,” Cohen said. “Sign in as you prefer, and let 1Password take care of the details.” The new feature initially supports sign-in with Google, Facebook or Apple, and more providers are expected to be added soon.

The password manager also expanded its secure password sharing feature, introduced in October, to include documents and files (opens in a new window) stored on the site. Additional enhancements include the ability to limit item sharing to a predefined list, switch recipient requirements, and share items across an entire domain, while requiring email verification.
