2 bodies were found, 10 were rescued from a boat accident in Miami

The Southeast Coast Guard and partner agencies rescued 10 people on Friday and found two bodies after two boats collided near Key Biscayne near Miami.

Crews of a small boat and a helicopter at a Miami Beach Coast Guard station rescued 10 people and pulled a body out of the water. The Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue Service pulled a second body out of the water.

“On behalf of the Coast Guard and our partner agencies, we would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the families and friends who have lost loved ones,” said the Miami Coast Guard Lt. Commander. Benjamin Tuckhorn said in a statement on Saturday. “The Coast Guard and our local partner agencies responded quickly and worked together on this search and rescue case.”

A person involved in the collision contacted the Coast Guard around 10:30 pm to report 12 people in the water about 1 mile west of Key Biscayne.

A lifeboat helped two survivors in critical condition, and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Service transported one to the Jackson Memorial Medical Center for medical care.
