2 killed, 4 wounded in a shooting at a nightclub Gary

GARY, Indiana – Two people were killed and four others were injured in a shooting at a nightclub in Gary, Indiana early Sunday morning.

Gary police said officers responded to Playo’s nightclub at 1700 on Grant Street for reports of gunfire.

A neighbor said she heard 30-50 shots and people screaming.

Once there, police said officers found an unresponsive 34-year-old man near the door. He was transported with gunshot wounds to a hospital. He was later pronounced dead. Lake Indiana County Medical Examiner Identifies Man as Jonte Dorsey of Joliet, Illinois

Police said officers also found a 26-year-old woman who did not react inside the club. She was also transported to the hospital. She was later pronounced dead, police said. The Lake Indiana County Medical Examiner identified her as Jah’Nice Quinn of Merrillville, Indiana.

Police say a third person was shot and taken to hospital in critical condition.

In addition, three other people were shot and appear to be without life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been announced yet.

In 2017, the police reacted to a fatal shooting for a club located at the same address.

Some who live nearby say shots have been fired regularly on weekends since then. They want the restaurant closed forever.
