If I come out of this draft class knowing that I’ve done my best to protect Trevor Lawrence, then I’ll be able to sleep through the night. Neil has played guard and right-handed for his career, so if this is to be short-term, then I’m at ease with him. It’s all about putting the top five players on the field to protect Lawrence and give him the comfort he didn’t get last season.

Detroit doesn’t really need an offensive lineman here and may not return to defender after Jeff Okuda. I invest in a leading position as an edge rusher and the best in this class based on film is Thibodeaux. I haven’t interviewed him, so I can’t talk about it, but I like the player and what he can do in the NFL against Romeo Ocuara.

The franchise decided to give Davis Mills a year to prove himself. It would not serve anyone to surround him with the wrong supporting cast, unable to give him a fair chance to prove whether he was capable or not. If the team upgrades the offensive line and it fails, choose a quarterback next year and you will still have this offensive line to block. It is difficult to imagine Laremi Tuncil on the list next year under his current contract.
