The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has identified the victim of a June 30 shooting in Port Coquitlam as 37-year-old Mehdi “Damien” Eslahian.

IHIT said Eslahian was known to police and called the killing a “targeted” killing, but not related to “an ongoing gang conflict in the Lower Mainland.”
“To further identify witnesses and co-operators, the victim’s name is being released,” said BC RCMP Sgt. David Lee.
“Mr. Eslahian’s movements are currently being charted. IHIT investigators are seeking to speak with Mr. Eslahian’s associates to determine his activities.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. in the 2700 block of Davies Avenue in Port Coquitlam.
Police are looking for CCTV or CCTV footage in the area, as well as any footage from Hastings Street and Lougheed Highway between 10pm on June 29 and 2am on June 30.
