Police on the south coast of Montreal have issued a $ 50,000 reward to find one of Canada’s most wanted criminals.
Yousef Buras, 25, is wanted in connection with the shooting of Muhammad Adhane, who was shot twice in the chest and killed on October 15, 2017 in the Center-Jacques Cartier car park in Longueuil.
Longueuil Police (SPAL) said Adhane was outside with his wife when Bouras allegedly approached the two at a metro station. The accused then followed the couple on a bus and got off at the same place as the two of them. He then brandished a gun at a store and allegedly persuaded Adhane to follow him alone to a parking lot, where the 18-year-old was shot and killed.
Police believe there are people in the area who know where Buras is.
“We think some people around Montreal know exactly where he is and we hope they can talk,” said SPAL Police Chief Fadi Daguerre. “We’re trying to see other ways, other ways to put pressure on him.”
Longueuil Police is working with the BOLO program (watch out) and Sun Youth. Interpol issued a red note for Bouras.
BOLO director Maxim Langlois said seven billboards would be erected in the Greater Montreal area and an online campaign would begin to draw attention to the award.
“One of the criteria of the BOLO program to expand a case is that the investigation is still active, but the police service must have exhausted new traces,” Langlois said.
Authorities warn citizens not to take action in detaining Buras.
“He can be armed and dangerous,” BOLO said in a statement. “Anyone who helps Buras avoid arrest can be considered an accomplice after the fact and be charged.
Buras is 5’8 “and weighs 143 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He is of Algerian and Canadian descent and has ties to Algeria, according to BOLO.
Those who have information about his whereabouts are instructed to call 911 or Sûreté du Québec’s confidential telephone number 1-800-659-GANG (4264).
The BOLO campaign will last for five weeks.
