The biggest story this week was the announcement of the Nothing (1) phone. But this was more of a confirmation as we had an almost complete image of the phone.
The handset comes with a recycled aluminum frame, a 6.55-inch 1080×2400 120Hz OLED touchscreen with 1200 nits peak brightness, 240Hz touch sampling rate, Gorilla Glass 5 on top and symmetrical bezels on all four sides. The Snapdragon 778G+ chipset is also at the helm of a dual rear camera system that includes a 50MP f/1.88 Sony IMX766 1/1.56″ main unit with OIS and a 50MP f/2.2 Samsung JN1 1/2.76″ ultra-wide camera with a 114-degree field of view. On the other side, embedded in the display hole is a 16 MP SonyIMX471 selfie shooter.
The Nothing phone (1) will be priced at €469 / £399 / INR 32,999 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, €499 / £449 / INR 35,999 with 8/256GB and €549 / £499 / INR 38,999 with 12/256GB. This latest version will arrive later than the other two. In addition to the UK, the Nothing (1) phone will be available in Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Macau, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand and UAE.
HMD took us back in time with the unveiling of the Nokia 8210 4G, a throwback to the Nokia 8210 from 1999, as well as the Nokia 2660 Flip and Nokia 5710 XpressAudio – a monoblock with built-in wireless headphones.
The Nokia 5710 XpressAudio is the most exciting offering of the bunch thanks to its built-in wireless headphones. The back of the phone features a sliding mechanism that accommodates the buttons and charges them while not in use. You can use the headphones to listen to music stored on the device (up to 32 GB memory via microSD slot) or FM radio, and you can also connect them to any other device such as a smartphone or tablet. The phone also has a headphone jack if you prefer that route.
The Nokia 8210 4G takes its design from the classic model launched in 1999, but updates the hardware on all fronts. It has a 2.8 QVGA color display, LTE connectivity and support for up to 32GB of storage via microSD card. The phone is made of polycarbonate and is available in sand, blue and red colors. It has a removable 1450 mAH battery rated for up to 6 hours of talk time on 4G and up to 19 days of standby time. Other goodies include an FM radio receiver that works with both wired and wireless headphones, a built-in MP3 player and the fan-favorite Snake game.
The Nokia 2660 Flip is the third new model and carries similar specs to Nokia’s other two new feature phones, but in a clamshell shape. It has a 2.8 QVGA main screen, an optional 1.77-inch panel, a VGA camera and a 1450mAh battery rated for up to 20 days of standby time.
All three phones go head-to-head in the UK later this month. The Nokia 8210 4G and Nokia 2660 Flip will retail for £64.99 (€59), while the Nokia 5710 XpressAudio will go for £74.99 (€69).
HMD also unveiled the Nokia T10, an 8-inch (1280x800px) tablet with optional LTE, a 5250mAh battery and a price tag of €159 ($159).
