Huge clouds of smoke engulf the former church, and footage shows the jet spreading through the Leven Valley.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said: “We were warned of a fire in the building on Main Street in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire, at 7.29pm on Saturday 23 April.

“DFRS mobilized three devices at the scene.

“There are no reports of casualties and crews are still present.”

This comes after another fire broke out in the church on Easter, which the police are currently investigating.

The building was at the heart of redevelopment plans that would result in £ 750,000 injected into the space.

Viresco Studios received a grant from the Scottish Government to turn the church into a state-of-the-art creative site.

When completed, the developers say the church will include studios, workshops, training spaces, event and exhibition areas and a café.
