A 38-year-old man died in hospital after being stabbed at the intersection of Harvey Avenue and Gordon Drive in Kelowna, British Columbia, on Monday night.
Police say they were called to the big intersection just east of downtown at 8:45 p.m. PT after several people called 911.
The victim was taken to hospital but did not survive.
Police say there is a 22-year-old suspect in custody as the investigation continues.
The victim and the suspect did not know each other
cap. Tammy Lob says it is believed that there was a quarrel between the two men that led to the stabbing, but they do not know each other.
She also said the fact that the stabbing took place in an area with such high visibility was worrying.
“This is very worrying for us, especially [since] this incident happened at nine-fifteen in the evening, “she said.
“It’s a busy time in our community, where there are a few people out there.”
Lob says the second man who collided with the meeting suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital and released.
Highway 97 was closed Monday night as police investigated, but all lanes reopened shortly after midnight.
