Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hailed Erling Haland as a “real beast” and admitted that he expects the Norwegian to make his Manchester City title rival much stronger next season.
City announced on Tuesday that the 21-year-old Norwegian international will join Pep Guardiola’s team ahead of the 2022-2023 campaign following a £ 51million transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
German boss Klopp has described Haaland as a “force of nature” in the past and has even seen him push away from his team in Liverpool’s 4-3 victory over Red Bull Salzburg in a group match of the 2019 Champions League at Anfield.

But now Klopp will have to see the line-up for Liverpool’s Premier League title in recent seasons, and he has acknowledged that he is a “really good signature” who will score many goals in the back.
Asked – after seeing how his team beat Aston Villa – whether Haaland’s arrival at the Etihad Stadium will make City stronger, the Reds boss replied: “Very much. A good player. City has never been and never will be to be a team that wins thanks to one player.
“They have a specific way of playing and I think Earling will suddenly realize that he will score a lot of goals on the second post, where he just puts his foot down. He will love it. He is a real beast.
“He was injured several times in Dortmund, but when he is in shape, he is a real beast. Unfortunately, he is a really good signature.
Klopp saw Haaland score a goal against his Liverpool side for Red Bull Salzburg in October 2019.
Haaland attracted interest from all over Europe after scoring 85 times in 88 games for Dortmund in two and a half years there.
The current leaders have beaten Real Madrid until the striker’s signing, and he has also been linked with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United in recent months.
Haaland will be the first real number 9 of City after club record holder Sergio Aguero, but the icon of the Reds Jamie Carragher believes that his signing could upset the balance of their team.
He told Sky Sports: “Brilliant signing, that’s right. Not just for Man City, but for the Premier League. I think we are all intrigued to see how it goes. He and (Killian from PSG) Mbape feel like the next two superstars who will eclipse [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo and you are just happy that he is in the Premier League.

“More often this type of players went to Barcelona or Real Madrid, but now I have the feeling that the Premier League is the strongest league. You saw how well we will do in the Champions League.
“He will score goals, that’s what he was bought to do, but that doesn’t guarantee that City will win everything. You still have to integrate him into the team. This means that City will lose another creative player who helps them hold the ball more or have more control in the games.
But former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp was delighted that the Premier League would finally see a “global star wanted by all” again.

He said: “This is a change in the game not only for Man City, but also for the league. For the first time in a long time, we have that global superstar that everyone wants. This is super exciting for everyone interested. It will be great to have him in our league.
After Liverpool’s 2-1 victory at Villa Park, Redknapp added: “I can’t wait to see Haaland, he’s a world superstar and such a young man, he has such a bright future.
“He is very lucky to work with Pep, to work with a great manager and players who have a brilliant mentality.”
