An insane gunman shot and killed a 46-year-old straphanger aboard a Manhattan subway train on Sunday in what cops call an unprovoked attack.
The shooter, who escaped from the scene, was walking back and forth in the last car of the northern train Q around 11:42 am, when he opened fire on the accidental victim on board the train, sources told The Post.
The victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, was shot dead on a moving train as he approached Canal Street Station, cops said.

Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
Disturbing videos show that first aid workers are frantically trying to revive the mortally wounded man while lying on the floor of a subway car – and while transporting him from the station on a stretcher.
Sources said the shooting happened when the train was crossing the Manhattan Bridge. Now the cops are looking for the shooter.
The shooter was wearing a gray hood with the words “Aeropostale”, police sources said.
