A man died Sunday after being hit in the chest by a gunman who opened fire on a subway train moving between Manhattan stations, police said.
The shooting took place on train Q north at about 11:45 a.m. before the subway arrived at Canal Street Station. Authorities said the victim was about 40 years old.
Police are looking for a suspect wearing a gray Aeropostale hood.
N / Q trains run on the R line between DeKalb Av and Canal St in both directions, while the NYPD continues to investigate Canal St.

The shooting interrupted the service of the N and Q trains, which were redirected to the R line between Decalb Avenue and Canal Street.
