The Dallas Mavericks need to win Game 3 at home to keep their hopes of reaching the NBA Finals. Dallas is 2-0 behind the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals series, but it is not unfamiliar territory.

Luka Doncic and Mavericks reached the WCF after beating the Phoenix Suns in seven games. They were 2-0 behind Phoenix after the first two races, but Doncic overtook his team.

Doncic made minimal help from his supporting cast, including Jalen Brunson, who scored 31 points in Game 2 against the Warriors. The Mavs lost Game 2 after leading 19 points before halftime. Doncic finished the game with 42 points, but that was not enough to overcome the pressure of Golden State.

Stephen Curry went down to finish the game with six 3 points for 32 points. Clay Thompson continues to struggle with his blow, but still exhausts them when they matter most. Meanwhile, Jordan Poole is a spark from the bench that keeps the Warriors even when Curry rests on the bench.

If the Mavericks intend to win game 3, they have to play intense defense all night, but especially during a crisis. Doncic will also need help from his scorers such as Dorian Feeney-Smith, Reggie Bullock and Spencer Dinuidi off the bench.

Draymond Green will be the X-Factor in Game 3. Green must avoid technical fouls and stay away from early foul problems. The Warriors still have a chance to win without Green on the floor, but his presence in a close match is more vital to Golden State’s chances of winning.

The winner of Game 3 will also come down to the two head coaches. It’s time for Jason Kidd to pull all the stops against Steve Kerr.
