The San Francisco Examiner’s editorial board has written a scathing rebuke to the city’s archbishop, Salvatore Cordilleone, after he announced he would refuse Holy Communion to House Nancy Speaker N-Pelosi, D-Calif., For her strong support for abortion.
Cordileone wrote to Pelosi on Friday, warning her that she could not receive Communion, while promising to codify Rowe against Wade.
“You must not impersonate Holy Communion, and if you do, you must not be admitted to Holy Communion,” he wrote.

In response, the Liberal Editorial Board accused the Catholic leader of “punishing” Pelosi instead of “right-wing politicians” who “[vote] against health care or the financing of the poor. “
They defended Pelosi as a leader who “consistently fights on the moral side of these issues” and praised her as a role model for women.
The editorial board claims that by denying the holy communion of Pelosi, the archbishop was not loyal to Christ.

“Cordileon’s main loyalty is not to Christ, but to the conspiracy of far-right American bishops led by Raymond Leo Burke, a Catholic prelate who is constantly campaigning to undermine Pope Francis’ authority,” they wrote before demanding the pope’s removal. the “radical conservative” of San Francisco.
“We reiterate our call on Pope Francis to remove him and replace him with a leader who can unite, not divide. “Cordilleon’s radical conservative policies may attract more people to places like Oklahoma or Texas, but his guerrilla pomp will not win over new converts in San Francisco.”
The Examiner concluded his editorial, praising Pelosi’s Catholicism over the Archbishop’s.

“Nancy Pelosi, not Archbishop Cordilleone, is the one who reflects the true spirit of Christian care in the city of St. Francis,” the board said.
In 2021, Cordilleone signaled that he opposed the reception of President Biden’s communion because of his position in favor of the election.
“If you find that you do not want or cannot abandon your intercession for abortion, you should not come near to receive Holy Communion,” the archbishop wrote in a pastoral letter that did not mention Biden or Pelosi.
