Canada, along with Newfoundland and Dawson Mercer from Labrador, go to the gold medal match at the World Hockey Championship in Finland.
Canada scored three times in the second period to retire and beat the Czech Republic, the former Czech Republic, 6-1 in the semifinals today.
This means that for the first time the same two teams, Canada and the hometown of Fins, will meet in the game for gold medals for three consecutive years.
Finland won in 2019, and Canada won last year by hosting a rubber match on Sunday.
Mercer, who assisted in the victory over the Czech Republic, already has five points, all assists, in the tournament.
The gold medal game is scheduled for 2:50 p.m. Newfoundland on TSN.
