A female cyclist is left with potentially life-changing injuries after a quarrel with a man who allegedly aimed his dog at her.
The victim, a woman in her 40s, was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries following the May 5 Lancaster incident.
She told police she was involved in a dispute with a man who accused her of nearly hitting his child.
He had two brown Staffordshire Bull Terrier or Bullmastiff dogs and allegedly hit one of the animals on the head, causing it to bite the woman’s upper leg and lock it up for a few minutes before she was free.
The attack took place on a bike path behind Priory Church, near Millennium Bridge, according to police.
This happened shortly after the victim was forced to stop to avoid a wife and child. At around 4.20 pm, paramedics were called to provide medical assistance to the woman for the injuries.

PC Richard Hannaford, of Morecambe Police, said: “This incident has left the victim with very serious injuries.
“As part of our ongoing investigations, we need to identify and talk to the person who walked the dogs. I would call on anyone who knows who he is – or the man himself – to contact the police as soon as possible.
“In the same way, I would ask all witnesses or anyone with video surveillance, video camera or mobile phone who could help our investigation to contact us.
The woman from Morecambe was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and has been discharged ever since. No arrests have been made.
The dog owner is described as white, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, thin, with brown short hair on the back and sides. It is believed that he was in his early 30s and did not wear a top.
