Final Fantasy 16 finally has a launch window for the summer of 2023.
Naoki Yoshida has introduced a new trailer for the game in PlayStation State of Play, which you can watch below, which gave us a new look at the history and gameplay of the game.
In particular, he demonstrates the composition of the summons of the game or Eikons, as they are known, their names are chanted in the music if you listen carefully: Phoenix, Titan, Garuda, Ramuh, Shiva, Odin, Bahamut and Ifrit.
The trailer showed the colossal characters fighting each other, maybe even controlled by the player. It is clear that Eikons will play a major role in both the game and the story.
He also showed more than the protagonist Clive, who fights solo against various enemy soldiers, using both the sword and the elementary abilities of Eikonic Strike. It certainly seems more focused on the action than the series has been before.
There were glimpses of his medieval setting, a political history of great wars and intrigues, and even a touch of romance.
“Wake up a child of destiny, wake up Ifrit,” says a voice at the end of the trailer, focused on Clive’s face. Could Clive’s fate be connected to Ifrit, just as young Joshua is connected to Phoenix?
A post on the PlayStation blog reveals additional information about the Dominants of Titan and Garuda. The awakening of Hugo Kupka as the dominant titan of Aacon “directed him to the forefront of Dalmatian politics” and in his role as permanent economic adviser.
Benedict Harman is the dominant figure in Eikon Garuda’s Warden of the Wind, which is on the hunt for an “elusive second Eikon of Fire”. This is probably Clive.
“Thank you for waiting so long,” Yoshida said, alluding to the impact of the pandemic.
“And although the world is in turmoil, we will continue to focus on what we do best – making games. Because if, through fun, we can give people something they can really enjoy, maybe we can bring a little happiness to these difficult times. ”
