Former President Donald Trump backed Katie Britt in the US Senate race in Alabama, calling former Sen. Chief of Staff Richard Shelby a “fearless warrior first in America” in a statement Friday night.
“Katie is an amazing fighter for the people of Alabama,” Trump said. “As president and CEO of the Alabama Business Council, Katie is working hard to grow Alabama’s economy, create jobs and restore the great American dream. She has the full support and approval of President Jimmy Parnell and the Alabama Farmers’ Federation.
“I am grateful to have the approval and strong support of President Trump,” Britt told AL.com.
“President Trump knows that the people of Alabama are sick and tired of unsuccessful career politicians doing nothing. It is time for the next generation of conservatives to step up and shake things up in Washington to save the country we know and love for our children and our children’s children. In the Senate, I will fight to defend Alabama’s Christian conservative values, advance America’s agenda, and preserve the American dream for generations to come.
Trump said Britt strongly supports “our besieged Second Amendment, defends parental rights and will fight for our military, our veterinarians and the integrity of the election.”
“Above all, Katie Brit will never disappoint you. So go out and vote for Katie Brit on June 21 in the Alabama Senate runoff – she has my full and complete approval! ”Trump continued.
Trump’s approval comes after he withdrew his support for MP Mo Brooks, R. Huntsville, in March after saying the conservative congressman “woke up” to telling Trump’s rally last summer to run in the election in 2020
“Last year, I supported Mo Brooks for the US Senate because I thought he was a fighter, especially when it came to the fake and stolen presidential election in 2020. The evidence is irrefutable. Then, out of nowhere and for no apparent reason, Mo stepped back and made a big mistake by going to Walk at our massive Culman Rally, Alabama. Trump said. “Instead of exposing voter fraud in the election, Moe gave a lecture to a crowd of 63,000, saying, ‘Leave this behind, leave it behind,’ which means he has virtually forgotten the rigged election and moved on to the future.” The problem is that if you do, it will happen again. Britt faces Brooks in the Republican primary in Alabama on June 21. The winner faces Democrat Will Boyd in November to decide who will succeed retired Shelby.
Neither Brit nor Brooks can be found immediately for comment.
As early as Wednesday night, Brooks said Trump had not backed his rival after Trump regained congressman approval.
The race was a battle over who was most closely on Trump’s agenda.
Brooks portrayed Britt as linked to Senate Minority Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Republican Establishment.
“Mitch McConnell’s team openly boasted – openly – that they had already spent $ 2 million attacking me and supporting Katie Britt,” Brooks said on election day. “They are not even trying to hide as usual. Britt, 40, is campaigning as a new face in contrast to Brooks’ 12 years in Washington.

Both Britt and former Army helicopter pilot Mike Durant – who did not qualify for the run-off after taking third place in the May 24 primary – met with the former president after he withdrew his approval from Brooks while Trump considered which candidate will support, if anyone.
