Winnipeg Police: A 50-year-old man was attacked at random at a bus stop

A 26-year-old man from Winnipeg has been charged after a 55-year-old man was injured in an apparently arbitrary attack on a bus stop, according to police.

At around 11 pm on Thursday, police were called to the intersection of Notre Dame and Arlington streets after a signal that a man had been attacked.

Officers found the 55-year-old man with multiple injuries in the upper body at the bus stop. He was taken to hospital and later released.

Police said the suspect, who remained at the scene, was detained without incident.

According to police, the victim said the victim was waiting at the bus stop when he was attacked, “without provocation”.

“The accused and the victim were previously unknown,” a police statement said.

Nathaniel Aaron Pittman has been charged with assault and bodily harm. The accusation has not been verified in court. He is in custody.
