Although the launch of Nothing Phone 1 is still about a month away, the company has already started showing what the device will look like to help generate ads. From a distance, the device seems to be a mix of the back of the iPhone X (with its dual-pill-shaped island) and the flat edges of the iPhone 12. However, the back cover here is transparent, revealing a large wireless charging coil, a few screws, which you don’t actually see on phones these days) and a mysterious model previously teased by founder Carl Pay.
Nothing provides further details in these teaser publications, but we imagine that the company still has a few tricks up its sleeve – in particular how Pei will enable an “open and diverse product ecosystem” with this device. So far, we know that the Phone 1 will include the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset – Engadget understands that this will be a mid-range processor – and the pure Nothing operating system, similar to Android, with some design flair. Nothing’s design team is led by former Dyson lead designer Adam Bates, who joined the company in early 2022.
Nothing Phone 1 will be launched in London at 16:00 BST / 11:00 EST on 12 July. Live streaming will be available, but you will need to respond in advance.
