Investigators are removing evidence from an apartment associated with Harmony Montgomery – Boston 25 News

MANCHESTER, New York – A massive all-day search of a residential building in Manchester, New York, failed to find Harmony Montgomery on Tuesday.

The 8-year-old girl has not been seen for two and a half years.

New Hampshire authorities, including Manchester police, Hillsborough County sheriffs and the FBI’s New Hampshire office, spent hours Tuesday extracting evidence from an apartment on 644 Union Street. The street reopened at about 10pm after the search ended overnight.

Among the dozens of onlookers on Tuesday, Regina Carr watched the search and waited for updates. Carr has published leaflets and organized searches for Harmony over the past few months.

“We all want to close. I don’t think this is the end we hope for, but we want an end, “Carr said, her heart pounding as she watched investigators remove possible evidence. “The fact that they haven’t found Harmony here keeps hope alive means we can keep looking for it.”

Around noon, investigators left the apartment building, loading a refrigerator and other items, including wooden planks, into a truck.

A new search in the case of Harmony Montgomery is expected to continue overnight

The items will be moved elsewhere for further analysis.

Harmony’s father, Adam Montgomery, and his then-wife, Kayla Montgomery, once lived in the apartment.

The Hillsborough County Grand Jury indicted 30-year-old Adam Montgomery in March on a second-degree felony charge, allegedly hitting Harmony in the face in July 2019.

Kayla Montgomery, 31, was charged by the grand jury with fraud theft, allegedly telling New Hampshire health officials that Harmony was a member of her household from November 2019 to June 2, 2021. and that it has benefited from food stamps for Harmony.

Kayla was also arrested earlier this month on charges of perjury.

They both pleaded not guilty and told police Harmony lived with her mother in Massachusetts.

Adam is currently in custody while Kayla is free.

Sources say that neither Adam nor Kayla Montgomery are cooperating in their efforts to find Harmony.

The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office is leading Harmony Montgomery’s investigation. The service will not say what led police to search Union Street; however, a source tells me that the site was searched for new investigative clues that have been developed recently.

It appears that one of Harmony Montgomery’s relatives has not changed course and is now cooperating with investigators.

Harmony Montgomery disappeared sometime in November or December 2019. It is unclear if she ever lived on Union Street with Adam and Kayla.

In January, the FBI helped NH investigators search the home of Guilford Street, where Harmony lived with her father and stepmother. She was not found.

As police spent hours searching for Union Street, Harmony’s birth mother, Crystal Sorry, told Boston 25 News: “It’s rude. I know in my heart that this is no longer a rescue mission. They are looking for a body. “

Late Tuesday afternoon, Manchester City Department of Public Works officials opened a manhole cover near the Union Street apartment building and set a camera in the pipes under the street in search of evidence.

At 6 p.m., Harmony Montgomery was not found and the search was expected to continue overnight.

Anyone with information about Harmony’s disappearance can call or send a 24-hour advice line at 603-203-6060.
