Thor’s first reactions: “Love and Thunder” call the film “Alive and Alive”

The first reactions came to the long-awaited “Thor: Love and Thunder” by Taika Whitey, whose world premiere was on June 23 in Hollywood. Expectations for the latest entry into the Marvel cinematic universe are very high, given that Whitey’s latest comic, Thor: Ragnarok, is considered one of Marvel’s best films.

According to journalists and critics on social networks, these expectations were justified. Film critic Simon Thompson wrote: “#ThorLoveAndThunder is a bright and vibrant explosion that delivers. Hemsworth’s manure remains a jewel in the Marvel crown. Bale’s Gorr is a boogie killer who mixes camp and fear. Foster of Portman and Valkyrie of Thompson are a first-class couple. Crow’s Zeus is * the chef’s kiss. * “

Insider correspondent Kirsten Akuna agreed and specifically praised Christian Bale’s portrayal as Gore, writing that he was “phenomenally threatening” and “one of the most sinister Marvel villains we’ve ever seen on screen.”

Christian Bale is phenomenally threatening as the villain of #ThorLoveandThunder, Gorr the God Butcher. One of the most sinister Marvel villains we’ve ever seen on screen. At one point it gave me some of the vibrations of the Dark Knight Ledger Joker. pic.twitter.com/zsg9SNXfqY

Critic Courtney Howard touted Taika Whitey’s directing, saying it was a “subversive, disrespectful show” with “great history, betting and character building.”

#ThorLoveAndThunder has an appetite for destruction and laughs. He is absolutely happy! Taika Whitey presents a subversive, disrespectful show. Great story, bets and character building. Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman, great. Russell Crowe and Christian Bale easily slip into the world pic.twitter.com/W7PUUXIfM5

Some were more critical of the film, such as Bro Bible senior writer Eric Italiano, who generally liked “Love and Thunder,” but said the plot “feels flat and uninvolved.”

#ThorLoveAndThunder is the funniest movie in MCU. The jokes are great, as is the cast that conveys them.

Christian Bale is obviously as horrible as # Gore

BUT, the plot seemed flat and unfounded. I’m not sure if this is a problem with #Thor or MCU-no-big-bad problem. pic.twitter.com/G6XP9EyL0Y

Set after the events of Avengers: The End of the Game, Thor’s latest sequel reveals that Chris Hemsworth’s superhero reunites with Corg (voiced by Whitey), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). to stop Gorr the God Butcher from eliminating all the gods. Portman’s return to MCU generated the most noise for “Thor: Love and Thunder” before its release. Portman gave up on Ragnarok and appeared in the new film as Mighty Thor, who also discovered her with the mystical hammer Mjolnir.

“At Black Swan, I was asked to be as small as possible,” Portman told Variety recently for the cover. “Here I was asked to be as big as possible. It’s an incredible challenge – and also a state of mind as a woman. “

“I’ve seen her play the role of a scientist in Thor 1 and 2, and it just seemed pointless to do it again,” Whitey added of Portman’s return as a superhero. “This character just feels like a love interest. This is an earthly woman who runs around, being mortal and insignificant.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” hits theaters across the country on July 8. See more first reactions in the posts below.

Another classic adventure of Thor! #ThorLoveAndThunder is everything I wanted it to be. Big, colorful, weird battles fueled by Guns N ‘Roses, with a hopelessly romantic story about finding love in unexpected places. Christian Bale and Russell Crowe are especially great. And Korg! pic.twitter.com/fu0gTUuMRj

I saw #ThorLoveAndThunder. It may not quite match Ragnarok’s visual or comedy bomb, but Taika Whitey made up for it with an emotionally mature Marvel movie. It’s also a lot of fun (Natalie has jokes) and includes one of the most stunning visual series in MCU history.

#ThorLoveAndThunder is much more episodic than I would suspect. Delivers great laughter. A very standard villain with cookie cutters with Christian Bale. I want the comedy of a cop friend with Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson. Matt Damon has to go to Broadway. Credits for publication are EPIC! Pure fun. pic.twitter.com/2J5UQuHHSA
