A 40-year-old man accused of trying to kill two children near Harrogate

A 40-year-old man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one assault on an ambulance worker following an incident involving two children, aged 10 and 11, earlier last week.

The incident happened around 8.20 am on Monday (June 20th) at a property on B6161 Otley Road, Beckwithshaw, very close to the local primary school.

A 13-year-old child also received minor injuries during the incident, which is also said to have happened outside the property.

Police are still investigating the attempted murder, but confirmed on Saturday (June 25th) that a man has already been charged with the crimes.

North Yorkshire police, who are investigating the incident, have called on travelers, people leaving their children at school or other members of the public.

Police also stressed that the assassination attempt was not related to the school.

A North Yorkshire police spokesman said: “We continue to appeal to anyone who may have left children at school, or travelers passing by, to check the vehicle’s surveillance camera and report any footage that may have been taken. part of the incident. before visiting the emergency services. ”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or had any information was asked to contact the police by calling 101, pressing 2 and asking to speak to the main investigation team, citing reference number 12220105995.
