LAPD arrests Michael Ortiz, Juliana Bernado amid Rowe’s protests against Wade

A man has been charged with attempted murder of police officers in Los Angeles on Friday night amid protests against Rowe’s turn against Wade, cops said.

A woman was also accused of resisting police after four police officers were injured by a volley of shells, fireworks and a makeshift soldering torch, officials said.

The chaos took place around 20:20 in the center of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles police announced.

Michael Ortiz, 30, is accused of throwing a makeshift flamethrower at an officer who was being treated for burns, according to a press release Saturday.

Juliana Bernado, 23, is said to have tried to steal an officer’s baton. A “less deadly” bullet was fired at her and she was detained, police said.

“I condemn the violence against officers that took place last night and today,” said Chief Michelle Moore.

“Persons involved in such criminal activity do not exercise their rights under the 1st Amendment in protest against the decision of the Supreme Court, but rather act as criminals.

The department will vigorously pursue these individuals. “

The large-scale protests in other cities and towns in the country were mostly peaceful.
