A girl is fighting for her life after being hit by a minibus while getting off a bus.
The 12-year-old girl was crossing the road on Princess Drive, in Houghton, around 3:30 p.m., when she was hit by a white Mercedes van. Emergency services arrived on the scene before the road was quickly closed by police.
An air ambulance landed on Princess Drive before the girl was taken to Alder Hey. She is currently fighting for her life in hospital.

In a statement from Merseyside police, a spokesman said: “We are calling for information after a 12-year-old girl was involved in a clash in Liverpool this afternoon (Tuesday, June 7). At around 3.30 pm, police were called to signal that a girl had been involved in a collision with a white Mercedes van after getting off a Princess Drive bus.
“Emergency services arrived on the scene and the girl was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, where her condition is described as critical. The driver of the van assisted the police in investigating the incident. “
Princess Drive, Lordes Road, Liverpool Road and Gretton Road are closed while emergency services remain in place and drivers are asked to avoid the area.
