A 24-year-old man from Leicester died in a motorcycle accident while on holiday in Vietnam. A British woman also died in the incident in Hanoi, local police said.
A graduate of the University of Denver Barfield in Beaumont Lace and the woman were traveling in Quang Nam province in the early hours of Monday, May 16, when the crash happened. Police told the local website Viet Nam News that the motorcycle crashed into an electric pole on the side of the road while the British were traveling from the city of Hoi An to the commune of Dien Ban.
The two were riding a motorcycle, police said. It was not reported who was driving the bike or whether another vehicle was involved in the crash.

The tourists were staying at a hotel on Cua Dai Street. Ding Xuan Ngi, city police chief, said the crash happened at 3:40 p.m.
Friends of Mr. Barfield, a graduate of marketing at Aston University in Birmingham, paid tribute to him online. They describe him in various ways as kind, caring and “unusual”.
A friend wrote: “Denver, my heart aches as I write this, I still don’t feel real. You were the most extraordinary person I have ever had the honor of meeting, and my heart breaks to think I will never see you again.
“You’ve always made everyone’s day a little better in some way, and I can’t stop thinking about all the memories I have of being one of the best friends anyone can have. You are so loved and you will be missed by every person who has known you, rest in peace. “
Another wrote, “PARADISE, my brother Denver Barfield, you were such a good boy. I had so many fun moments with you when we worked together and at school. He was always so kind and I had such a good heart. I’ll miss it! “
A third friend, published, said: “I can’t believe what I read tonight. Such sad news! We had so many memories together skating and endless conversations when we were younger. Such a sweet and caring boy! Another life taken too early to live and look forward to! “
The case has been transferred to the provincial police for further investigation, according to the local news website. LeicestershireLive has requested more information from the UK Embassy in Vietnam and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
