A 44-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder after a woman was found dead at Kitchener’s home

KITCHENER – Waterloo Regional Police arrested a 44-year-old man and charged him with second-degree murder after a 42-year-old woman was found dead Sunday night at a townhouse in Green Valley Drive and Arrowhead Crescent in Dun.

A yellow police tape was wrapped around the entrance to a townhouse near Green Valley Drive on Monday morning as police continued their investigation into the murder the night before.

The man and woman knew each other, Const said. Andre Johnson on Monday. Police provided several other details about the identity of the victim or suspect.

There are no public safety concerns, police said.

Police said they were called to the area to check on someone’s well-being. The record could not confirm what prompted the inspection.

Neighbors said they saw police and other emergency services near the home around 8pm on Sunday and that emergency workers stayed up late at night.

On Monday morning, police searched the area, moving from unit to unit and knocking on doors to talk to people.

A neighbor described the town complex as quiet, with families keeping to themselves.

The investigation is ongoing, involving departments for serious police crime, forensic identification and general investigation.
