A 51-year-old man has been arrested after a 14-year-old boy was raped in public restrooms on Bournemouth Pier

A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a 14-year-old boy was attacked in public toilets on Bournemouth Pier.

Officers were called to the scene on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. after the teenager was attacked at the pier’s facilities.

Detectives investigating the incident have now confirmed that a Bournemouth man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and questioned by officials.

CID Chiefs Detective Ross Graham of Bournemouth said: “We are doing everything we can to support the victim in this case and keep his family fully up to date.

“We are conducting a detailed investigation into this matter and our investigation is ongoing.

District Chief Inspector Darren Harris of the local border police area said: “We continue to work with the Border Council and other partner agencies to ensure that we have a strong visible presence on the coast and that these efforts will continue for the rest of the spring and summer.

“Police officers, community support police officers, Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) staff and council staff can address the public with any concerns.

“Lifeguards and RNLI staff can also be contacted, with their beach towers serving as a safe place to address concerns or seek additional help.
