The unidentified 24-year-old driver became investigators on Friday, three days after 38-year-old Dale Lilik was hit while crossing Hillcrest Avenue and Clearbrook Road in Abbotsford at 11:59 p.m. on April 26.
The driver fled the scene, police said.
Lilik’s mother, Michele, made a public appeal Thursday to the driver, who was involved in the collision late at night.
“I don’t know what would make you leave a person you crashed into a vehicle unattended, without the necessary medical care,” she wrote on Facebook.
“I can only hope that you will come out and realize the impact that your careless actions have had on him and his family.

“He’s stable, but he’s on a life support,” his mother said. “These should not be words a parent hears about their child.”
As long as the investigation remains active, no charges have been filed as of Friday.
“Investigators continue to monitor the evidence; investigations of this nature take time to complete, “said Const. Paul Walker, who mentioned that investigators had found the vehicle involved in the crash.
