A bicyclist was sent to the hospital in serious condition after a hit-and-run

Parkland County RCMP are asking for the public’s help in identifying the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run Sunday morning.

At 6:40 a.m., RCMP received a report of a hit-and-run bicyclist on Highway 60 south of Highway 627.

Bystanders found a 74-year-old bicyclist from Fort St. John, B.C., injured next to the southbound lane, according to RCMP.

The cyclist had head and shoulder injuries and was conscious but not alert, the police added. He was taken to hospital in serious condition.

“Police found a broken side mirror at the scene that appeared to belong to a larger, white-colored truck similar to a Ford F350,” RCMP said in a news release.

“Witnesses reported that there was fog in the area this morning and the driver may not have realized he hit someone.”
