A California man carrying at least one weapon near Brett M. Cavanaugh’s home in Maryland has been detained by police after telling officers he wanted to kill a Supreme Court judge, according to people familiar with the investigation.
The man, who is about 20 years old, has been found to be carrying at least one weapon and burglary tools, said those who wished to remain anonymous to discuss an ongoing investigation. Police have apparently been informed that the person may pose a threat to justice, but it is not immediately clear who provided the initial signal, the people said. The man apparently did not reach Cavanaugh’s property in Montgomery County, but was stopped on a nearby street, the people said.
