A firefighter was injured in a large fire at his home in Toronto

A firefighter sustained injuries requiring hospitalization while battling a very hot and persistent fire that broke out in a home in western Toronto that night.

Ambulances were called to the home in Langmuir Crescent, between the Humber River and Jane Street, north of Bloor Street West, at 1:42 a.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters said the roof was completely damaged when they arrived.

The back of the roof collapsed due to fire damage.

They demolished it for several hours and checked for expansion in hot spots until 5 in the morning

All the occupants of the home were outside, safe and wanted.

A firefighter received minor injuries, which necessitated transportation to a hospital, paramedics said.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still unknown.
