KABAZON, Calif. (KABC) – More than a dozen people were injured in a crash after a Greyhound bus traveling from Los Angeles to Phoenix burst a tire on Highway 10 in the Cabazon / Banin area on Friday, officials said.
The crash was reported in the eastern lanes just before 11 a.m. near Ramsey Street in Banning, according to the California Road Patrol.
The CHP says a Greyhound with 33 people on board was traveling in the second lane at about 60 to 65 miles per hour when its left front tire burst.
The bus lost control, slipped to the left and hit the Mitsubishi Outlander in the next lane, then hit the center divider.
Authorities say one person on the bus was seriously injured and another 10 were slightly injured. They were all transported to local hospitals. Two Outlander residents were also taken to local hospitals.
The remaining passengers were transported to the Morongo tribal hall in Cabazon. There are no casualties at Mitsubishi.
One lane was blocked to the east 10 as authorities continued to investigate the incident. Currently, traffic in the area is moving.
