A huge fire that tore apart Derby’s buildings has started deliberately, the investigation found

A huge fire that tore buildings in Derby has started deliberately, an investigation has found. A fire on London Road, Wilmorton, broke out early Sunday (June 12th) morning and police called for witnesses.

Firefighters were called shortly after 6:30 a.m. after initial reports of a car fire. The accident affected the service for navigation tires and manual car wash and the garage of Opulent Motors next door.

In an update Monday night, the Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A joint police and fire investigation into the cause of the fire at a London Road store, Wilmorton concluded that the fire started on purpose. Derbyshire police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or noticed anything suspicious in the area in the early hours of Sunday morning. “

Six fire extinguishers and an air ladder platform were present at the site that closed London Road for several hours. On Sunday, Mo Tahir, who drives Opulent Motors with his wife Fiona, said he felt “heartbroken” after inspecting the damage, which included a brand new BMW 1 Series worth more than £ 30,000, left burnt on the previous his yard.

“My phone first rang at 5.45 in the morning, which was a little alarming. It was that I don’t know what was the hardest thing when my 17-year-old son and I fell and we were afraid that everything we worked for over the last three years burned to pieces, “Mo said.

“The sales office is totally flooded, there is damage to wire and smoke. The kitchen and the bathroom are damaged, there is upholstered furniture such as pillows that we will not be able to use again.

“I was angry with myself when I thought about why I don’t park my BMW where I usually park it, not right in front of the sales office.”

A large section of the road was originally closed between its intersection with Ascot Drive and Raynesway. A small section of London Road from Ascot Drive to Alvaston Park remained closed until about 3 p.m. on Sunday.
