A large cannabis farm was opened in Essex this week after police were called in for burglary.
In the early hours of Thursday (April 28th), police were called in for what was believed to be burglary in an industrial facility.
When officers visited the ward at Moss Road, Whitham, at 1 a.m., they found a broken window and about 900 cannabis plants inside.
Sergeant Andy Christian, of the Braintree Police Team, said: “This is a significant cannabis factory in an industrial facility that has apparently been converted inside for this purpose.

“Our staff seized about 900 cannabis plants and a large number of buds.

“They have already spent two days at the scene and will be there until the end of the weekend, dismantling the extensive apparatus for growing and shredding plants and buds ready for destruction.”
Officers will guard the scene 24 hours a day until it is cleared.

Investigations are underway to find and arrest those responsible for cannabis cultivation.
Sergeant Christian added: “The illicit drug trade, regardless of class, is often violent and causes unhappiness to vulnerable people caught in it, as well as affecting the local community.”
