Vancouver police are releasing a video of an alleged “seemingly random attack” on a teenager in the hope that people will come out.

On March 8, around 11:45 a.m., a 15-year-old boy was walking in the Pacific Center mall when a man approached him from behind and allegedly “swept him to the ground,” a press release said.

After the attack, the alleged suspect fled the area, but was followed by security at the mall. VPD patrol officers were immediately called and quickly identified the suspects.

The teenager did not receive any serious physical injuries.

“Even though we arrested a suspect in this case, we are still gathering evidence,” Cst said. Tanya Visintin. “We are particularly interested in talking to people who saw the suspect immediately before or after the alleged attack or heard any interaction the suspect had with the victim or other people.

Faisal Abubecker, 25, has been charged with assault and has been released pending trial.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 604-717-2541.
