A man died after a pickup truck crashed into Hwy’s ditch. 407 in Whitby

A man is dead after his pickup truck crashed into a ditch in Whitby early Friday morning.

Shortly after 6 a.m., Ontario police responded to reports of a collision on the exit ramp of Highway 407 and Lake Ridge Road.

Police say a black pickup truck exited the highway and entered a ditch on the east side of Lake Ridge Road.

The lone driver was found dead on the spot, police said.

Police have identified the man as a 32-year-old Ajax resident.

“At the moment, we are looking at alcohol and the lack of seat belts as contributing factors to this clash,” the sergeant said. Kerry Schmid said in a video posted on Twitter.

Roads in the area have been closed, but have reopened ever since.
