The investigation began after the death of a man who was found in a fire in a park in west London in the early hours of Monday morning.
Police were called by the London Fire Brigade at 4.37 am in Bellevue Park in Northholt.
No one has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

The death was treated as suspicious and detectives from the Metropolitan Specialized Crime Command led the investigation into the discovery.

Officers work to identify the deceased and inform his relatives.
An autopsy will be performed in the coming days.
The London Fire Brigade said they were called to report a fire at 4.19am and the incident ended at 4.56am.
A fire truck from the Northolt fire station was present at the scene.
Chief Detective Claire Hein, a senior investigating officer, said: “This is a complex and rapidly evolving investigation and we are working to put together the events that led to the loss of this man’s life.
“Our main priority at this stage is to identify the person involved so that his family can be informed. We are also conducting house-to-house inquiries, reviewing video surveillance to build a timeline for who was in the area at the time of the fire. “
Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, in charge of local police in Ealing, said he was “shocked and saddened” by the discovery.
He added: “Currently, there is no information to suggest that there is a greater risk as a result of this incident.”
